For Body Workers

The Buteyko training for body workers is a two days training program. It includes the following topics:

  • Learn how dysfunctional breathing affects posture and motor control and contributes to back pain, neck pain, stress related disorders, dyspnea, dizziness and lightheadedness, and many medically “unexplained” conditions.
  • Identify dysfunctional breathing in their patients
  • Help clients establish better breathing habits and teach strategies to relieve symptoms 
  • Teach strategies to increase exercise capacity and to enhance sports performance
  • Help patients establish better breathing habits
  • Teach strategies to relieve symptoms such as nasal congestion, dyspnea, 
  • Teach strategies to increase exercise capacity and to enhance sport 
  • Identify and modify causes of breathing dysfunction
  • Learn how to monitor and improve their own breathing

Upon completion of the training, trainees will be able to work effectively with patients who exhibit:

  • Mouth and upper chest breathing pattern
  • Chronic pain
  • Stress related disorders and excessive muscle tension 
The trainees will not be able to work with people with serious health conditions like asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, anxiety, etc. These cases will have to be referred to a fully trained Buteyko educator.
Trainees are encourged to become fully trained educators by completing the following:
  • Buteyko course - pre-requisite for educators training
  • Buteyko level 2 for health professionals
